Deadline Approaching for Tax Year 2022 Filing Extension
Phoenix, AZ—The due date for the 2022 calendar year returns filed with extensions is almost here. Individual income taxpayers who received a filing extension--and have yet to file a return--have until Monday, October 16 to submit their tax returns. Arizona corporate calendar year timely filers (Forms 120, 120A, 99T, and 99M) have until November 15. Partnership and S corporation returns were due September 15; fiduciary returns were due September 30.
Be mindful that paper income returns are considered timely based on the postmark date and electronic returns and payments may need to be submitted a couple days early to be considered timely.
More than 240,800 individuals and 178,400 corporations received an extension for 2022 tax year returns from the state.
Thus far for tax year 2022, 92 percent of individual income tax returns in Arizona were e-filed. During the recent tax filing season, refunds from e-filed returns took an average of 7 business days to process, compared to an average of 51 business days for paper returns.
Filing Tips
-
ADOR advises taxpayers to double-check their tax returns to ensure no information is missing and recommends e-filing the Arizona return when e-filing the federal return.
-
E-filing reduces the time to process and the amount of paper needed to submit complex and lengthy returns.
-
If filing an individual income tax return by paper, check box 82F.
-
Include your whole social security number or employer identification number.
-
Make income tax payments on AZTaxes.gov. It does not require registration.
