External Tax Software Outage on September 15, 2020
The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) is aware that on September 15, 2020, an unexpected outage concerning systemic tax preparation software prevented some Arizona taxpayers from timely e-filing their returns by the due date of September 15, 2020.
As a matter of routine course, ADOR encourages all taxpayers who cannot file on time to file for an extension, if eligible. A taxpayer who is not eligible for an extension should make every attempt to file by the due date or as soon as possible afterward.
Returns and extension requests that were impacted by the outage have been adjusted to indicate timeliness. Improper penalties and interest have been negated. Please be aware that penalties and interest are still assessed in certain circumstances, i.e., if there was no valid extension request on file and September 15 was the extended due date.
Taxpayers or disclosure authorized representatives may check the status of an affected return or extension request by contacting ADOR’s customer service at (602) 255-3381 or toll-free (international calls and calls from area codes 520 and 928 only) (800) 352-4090.
For any taxpayer who wants to request penalty or interest abatement for non-audit penalties, Form 290 is available on ADOR’s website at https://azdor.gov/forms/other-
