Transaction Privilege Tax License Renewals Due January 1, 2020

The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) is sending renewal letters to businesses this week. Every business licensed with ADOR is required to renew their Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) License as it expires December 31, 2019.

The due date to renew a TPT license is January 1, 2020. TPT licenses are valid for one calendar year, from January 1 through December 31. Licenses renewed within the calendar year must still be renewed at the start of the following calendar year. Failure to renew or renewals received after January 1 will incur penalties and/or late fees.

Department of Revenue Provides Penalty Relief and Support for October TPT Filers

In light of intermittent technical issues with the Department of Revenue’s AZTaxes.gov website, the department is providing additional support to assist business taxpayers in meeting their transaction privilege tax (TPT) obligations for the October reporting and paying period, due Wednesday, November 27.

For business taxpayers that use the AZTaxes.gov website to file and pay transaction privilege tax, the department is extending a penalty grace period for the October reporting period.

Modifications Being Completed for Corporate E-Filing in Arizona

Corporations Will Have E-File Option Starting January 2020

 

The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) is completing system modifications to start accepting electronically filed corporate income tax returns in January 2020. The e-file solution will also include partnership tax returns.

The introduction of corporate e-filing will provide businesses with an easier and more convenient way of filing  tax returns.

ADOR Seeking Unclaimed Property Owners Who Served in U.S. Military in Arizona

The Arizona Department of Revenue’s (ADOR) Unclaimed Property program is looking for members of the U.S. military who have unclaimed funds in their names from when they were based in Arizona.

The agency has identified more than 8,800 military personnel with last known Arizona addresses from Luke Air Force Base, Tucson’s Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Fort Huachuca Army Base, Yuma Proving Ground Army Base, Camp Navajo Army Base and Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma.

2020 Transaction Privilege Tax License Renewals are Coming

The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) will be sending renewal letters to businesses next month to renew their 2020 Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) License. A transaction privilege tax license is used for collection and remittance of state, county and city taxes.

Every business licensed with ADOR is required to renew their Arizona TPT license, which is due January 1, 2020.

AZ Tax Preparer Sentenced to Three Years of Probation for Falsifying Tax Returns

PHOENIX - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a former tax preparer was sentenced to three years of probation and a fine of $11,000 for preparing false income tax returns while working at Tax Xpress. Seven Arizona taxpayers were unaware that Tax Preparer Karen Hernandez, 26, had included false information on their returns.

Arizona’s Out-of-State Seller Transaction Privilege Tax Now in Effect

Out-of-state sellers must now begin collecting transaction privilege tax (TPT) in the state of Arizona.

A remote seller that makes direct sales to Arizona customers and ships products into the state, but does not itself have a physical presence in Arizona will pay the tax to the Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR).  A remote seller is required to pay TPT if in the current or previous calendar year annual gross proceeds or gross income derived from direct sales into Arizona is more than $200,000 in 2019, $150,000 in 2020, and $100,000 in 2021 and beyond.

Governor Ducey Names Carlton Woodruff Director Of The Arizona Department Of Revenue

PHOENIX – Governor Doug Ducey today announced the appointment of Carlton Woodruff as the director of the Arizona Department of Revenue, pending Senate confirmation. Woodruff has served as interim director since December 2018.

Under the director’s leadership, the agency collected a record $19.3 billion in fiscal year 2019—up from $17.9 billion in fiscal year 2018–which was distributed back to Arizona cities, towns and counties, as well as the State General Fund. At the same time, Arizona has continued to simplify and lower taxes for Arizonans.
