Arizona did not fully conform to the Federal changes made to the Internal Revenue Code in 2009. This notice will help taxpayers determine if their 2009 income tax return is impacted by Arizona’s non-conformity.
Senate Bill 1185 (Laws 2009, 1st Reg. Session, Chapter 2) amended the amounts required to be withheld for Arizona withholding purposes. Through June 30, 2010, the amount required to be withheld was a percentage of federal withholding. For amounts withheld on or after July 1, 2010, the amount required to be withheld will no longer be a percentage of federal withholding. Amounts withheld on or after July 1, 2010, must be based on a table prescribed by the department.
If you filed a paper income tax return and expect a refund, it can take up to twelve weeks to receive it. For a faster refund next year, try filing electronically with your refund sent to you via direct deposit. E-filed tax returns are easy to prepare, are processed much quicker, and you can receive your refund in as little as ten days with direct deposit.
Please don’t forget that April 15th is the due date for filing!
